Arghya 2024
24th August
Arghya 2024 was special in many ways, marking the pioneer event of Arghya after its formation as a Section 8 company. The event beautifully reflected the foundation’s vision of promoting students and emerging artists of pure Indian classical music by sharing the same stage as the maestros of this timeless art form.
The evening commenced with a captivating flute recital by two highly promising disciples of Pandit Vivek Sonar - Satej Karandikar and Raj Sonar, accompanied on tabla by Anutosh Digharia. Their performance set a graceful and inspiring tone for the event.
This was followed by a soulful vocal presentation by Nupur Gadgil in our Upcoming Artists segment, with elegant tabla accompaniment by Tanya Rege.
As this was Arghya’s first large-scale event, we sought the blessings of the entire fraternity and were deeply honoured by the gracious presence of stalwarts such as Pandit Arun Kashalkar, Pandit Nayan Ghosh, Pt Satish Vyas, Shri Avinash Prabhawalkar, and Pandit Purbayan Chatterjee and many more. Their support and encouragement meant a great deal to us.
The Maestro Section featured an electrifying and deeply melodic sitar recital by Pandit Ravi Chary, accompanied by Ustad Fazal Qureshi on tabla. We remain humbled and honoured by their acceptance of our invitation at such a nascent stage of our journey.
The second master presentation was by Grammy Award-winning flautist Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia, to whom we are immensely grateful for graciously accepting our invitation.
A proud and unforgettable moment of the evening was the felicitation of Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia for his Grammy win, presented by none other than the legendary Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, revered worldwide as the God of the Flute.
The décor of the event was thoughtfully inspired by the timeless architecture of the Banaras ghats. Stone pillars, along with abundant arrangements of mogra and rajnigandha, were used to create an immersive and elegant ambience for the evening. The presentation set a new benchmark in stage aesthetics and décor for Indian classical music events.
Arghya 2024 was also widely publicised across Mumbai through prominent hoardings and newspaper advertisements, helping the event reach music lovers across the city and beyond.
Arghya 2024 was not merely an event; it was the beginning of a musical journey rooted in tradition, excellence, innovation, and the nurturing of future generations of Indian classical artists.
