Arghya 2025
14th September
With Arghya 2025, we ventured beyond the realm of Indian classical music and stepped into the world of fine arts, marking a significant milestone in our journey. This edition was particularly special, as it reflected our intent to broaden horizons and celebrate the harmonious confluence of diverse artistic expressions.
The evening commenced with a powerful and intricate presentation by the students of the esteemed Ustad Allarakha Institute of Music. Under the able guidance of Ustad Fazal Qureshi, the young percussionists showcased complex thekas and rare compositions created by the legendary Ustad Allarakha Khan and the iconic Ustad Zakir Hussain. Their performance was a fitting tribute to the rich legacy of the Punjab gharana and set an energetic and scholarly tone for the evening.
From the pulsating brilliance of percussion, the evening gracefully ascended into the serene and meditative world of strings with the soothing sounds of the santoor. Our promising young artist Satyendra Singh Solanki delivered a soulful recital, accompanied by another cherished member of the Arghya family, Sardar Harmeet Singh. The tranquil and introspective atmosphere created by their performance beautifully prepared the audience for the divine experience that was to follow.
The master segment of the evening was nothing short of magical and transcendent. Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, with his commanding presence and deeply emotive voice, transformed the venue into a sacred spiritual space. His recital resonated profoundly with every listener present, leaving the audience spellbound and deeply moved.
Sharing the stage with him was the distinguished artist Padma Shri Shri Vasudeo Kamath ji, who stood before his canvas and brought visual poetry to life through his masterful brushwork. The presentation became a rare and extraordinary dialogue between sound and sight—one maestro captivating hearts through melody, the other through colour and form.
As the evening reached its crescendo, Vasudeo ji unveiled a live portrait of Pandit Venkatesh Kumar in his unmistakable style, creating a moment of awe and reverence that remains unforgettable.
The décor of Arghya 2025 perfectly complemented the spiritual essence of the event. The stage was transformed into the courtyard of a temple, adorned with deepmals, Nandi, and a traditional Tulsi Vrindavan, lending the space an atmosphere of devotion, grace, and timeless beauty.
Arghya 2025 became a defining chapter in our journey—an ambitious and heartfelt experiment that successfully brought together sur and rang, music and art, tradition and innovation, into one sublime experience.
